Prayer & Living

After 10 days of abandoning my blog, I am here today to share about what I learnt this morning. My pastor preached about "prayer and living" today.

The bible tells us to pray all the time. But it seems impossible to do this as we are busy with our daily routine and I think most of us will pray during a certain time of the day. Prayer is a constant conversation with God. Sometimes, some Christians tend to think that by attending the church service every Sunday is enough for them to establish a relationship with our heavenly Father. But little do they know that they will never grow an intimate relationship with God by doing this.

Therefore, in order to have a good and close relationship with our omnipotent, omniscient and perfect God, we have to pray to Him. Tell Him everything that happened in our lives as He wants to be included in every activity, every conversation, every problem and even every thought.

The thing that I am learning now is to pray to God in anytime, not only when I need Him but also...erm...just anytime. For example, when I see something great happening in my life. Ooohhh...talking about this, it's raining outside now. I thanked God for giving us rain to rejuvenate this land and to cool down the earth as the weather is very warm and humid these few weeks.

I would like to share about something that I gained from my readings. I am reading Rick Warren's famous book now. I guess you know which book. Yup...It's "The Purpose Driven Life." He suggested that we can do "breath prayer" throughout the day. You can choose a breif phrase or sentence that can be repeated to Jesus in one breath. For instance, "You are with me." "I belong to you." "You are my God." I should learn to practise this as frequent as possible so that it is rooted in my heart. Hmmm...maybe I should tell these "breath prayers" in front of the mirror every morning. By doing this, I can start my day with the presence of God and I will know that He is with me everytime and anywhere.

Hence, I have to train myself about the presence of God and to remember Him. Rick Warren suggested that we can create reminders to regularly bring our thought back to the Creator that He is with us in that moment. Placing little, short notes that say "God is with me and for me right now!" at various visible places would be a great way to train me to constantly and consistently remember Him.

I think that's all from my sharing about prayer and I shall end this post with a bible verse. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. ~James 5 : 16b

My First Post^^

Hello, everyone!! This is my first post here. I am going to start of by introducing myself. I am a twenty-year-old girl...erm...young adult. I am now in my first year degree in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) in Penang. Meaning I am going to be an English teacher in the future.

There are a few reasons that I wanted to start a blog. The first reason is that I want to share the things that happen around me with people. I am not that kind of people who will easily share and talk to others unless you are very close to me. So...I guess blogging will be a great solution to tackle this problem.

Now, let's move on to the next reason. I want to share how God touches my life and how He blessed me throughout this 20 years. And that is why I named my blog "God's Hand On My Shoulder". This is a title borrowed from a book which I am reading now. It is about the testimonies of God shared by teenagers. I chose to buy this book because I am really interested in how teenagers nowadays think.

And now, the last reason, which I think is very lame, is that all my siblings, relatives and friends have their own blogs. And I think this is a good way to update or catch up with their recent activities by reading their blogs. So, I think it's a good idea to have a blog so that people will know what I am doing through my blog.

Erm... I think that's all from me. Thank you^^
